We invite you to journey with us this Lent. Over six weeks, Jesuits from across our province will guide us through prayer and reflection — a path of returning, reconciling and preparing our hearts for the joy of Easter.
Reflections by Jesuits
When we think of Lent, we often think of sacrifice. But in this reflection, Fr. Gilles Mongeau, SJ, invites us to see something deeper: Lent as a path to freedom.
Drawing on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, he shows how confronting sin — both personal and communal — opens us not to shame, but to amazement at God’s mercy. Lent becomes a journey from dust to mercy to mission. Read more
The past few days have felt increasingly dark and unstable on the world stage, and many of us feel powerless in the face of such violence and power struggles that stand in stark contrast to the spirit of Lent and Ramadan.
In the midst of these global wounds, Fr. Richard Soo, SJ, invites us into a Lenten reflection not only on communion with God, but on what he calls “horizontal Communion” — solidarity with those who suffer alongside us and across the globe. Through deeply human stories of loss, survival, and ongoing suffering, and drawing on the wisdom of the saints, he shows that true communion during Lent calls us to unite our hearts with those who are oppressed and afflicted, recognizing Christ in their pain and in our shared humanity. We all have a tendency — influenced by the pace of daily life — to want to get things done quickly.
In this Lenten reflection, Fr. Jean-Marc Laporte, SJ, invites us to rediscover a virtue that often gets overlooked: patience. Reflecting on the temptations of Jesus and encounters from the Gospel, he reminds us that God’s work in our lives rarely unfolds instantly. Lent becomes a time to slow down, to trust God’s timing, and to allow grace to shape us gradually. Read more
In this reflection, Nader Nasralla, SJ, invites us to look at Lent with fresh eyes — not simply as a time of preparation, but as a path of gradual transformation.
While we often focus on what we need to change, he reminds us that Lent is meant to lead us into a lasting Easter joy, one that quietly takes root in our daily lives through patience, fidelity and grace. Learn more
As Lent draws us toward Holy Week, Fr. Michael Kolarcik, SJ, invites us to reflect on a quiet but powerful sign of God’s grace: the Spirit praying within us for those who suffer. Rooted in his own experience of living in international Jesuit communities, he reminds us that our call to pray for others is itself a sign of forgiveness — and a participation in Christ’s mission of compassion and love. Contribute to Our Mission
Easter is a season of renewal and inexpressible joy. It is a time to remember that through Christ’s death and resurrection, he reveals that life is stronger than death and that light overcomes every darkness. This year, we continue to walk in faith and hope, strengthened by God’s grace and by your generous support.
Inspired by the victory of the cross, we invite you to join us in carrying forward this mission of hope and new life. Your Easter gift:
- Sustains Jesuits in active ministry
- Supports the formation of future Jesuits
- Provides care for our elderly Jesuits
- Strengthens works that bring faith, justice and reconciliation to our world
This Easter, please consider making a donation to support the Jesuits and their mission.
May the peace of the Risen Christ fill your heart and home this Easter and renew your spirit in love and gratitude.
